Cambridge United Football Club is a professional football team based in Cambridge, England. Founded in 1912 as Abbey United, the club became Cambridge United in 1951 and plays its home matches at the Abbey Stadium, near the River Cam. Known to supporters as the U’s, Cambridge compete in the English Football League and face teams in domestic league and cup competitions, including the FA Cup and the EFL Cup. The club has enjoyed notable success in non-league football, winning the Football Conference title in 2000–01 and the Conference Premier championship in 2013–14, when it also lifted the FA Trophy at Wembley Stadium. Cambridge United reached the FA Cup quarter-finals in 1990–91 and achieved their highest league finish with fifth place in the second tier in 1991–92 and 1992–93. The Abbey Stadium has been the club’s home since 1932 and has a capacity of approximately 8,000. Notable former Cambridge United players include striker Dion Dublin, who began his professional career with the club, and prolific forward John Taylor. With a proud history, passionate local support and a record of memorable cup runs, Cambridge United remains a prominent part of English football.

Brighton & Hove Albion U21 are the club’s senior development side, preparing young players for first-team football and competing in Premier League 2, with opportunities to enter cup and international development competitions such as the Premier League International Cup. The Seagulls’ U21s won the Premier League 2 Division Two title in the 2022–23 season, a notable achievement in the team’s recent history. Their squad brings together academy graduates and young professionals, and regularly changes as players progress, go on loan or earn senior opportunities. Brighton graduates and emerging players, including Evan Ferguson and Jack Hinshelwood, have featured in the club’s pathway to the first team. The team’s base is the American Express Elite Football Performance Centre in Lancing, where Brighton’s academy and training facilities support player development; selected home fixtures may also be staged at other local grounds. U21 matches provide a useful way to follow the next generation of Brighton talent, assess prospects gaining competitive experience and track the club’s academy programme. Supporters should check official club and competition listings for current fixtures, squad details and venue information.
