Event of the Day: Wimbledon Men's Semifinals

Our event of the day...

is the men's singles semi-final day at Wimbledon. Roger Federer, Tomáš Berdych, Sam Querrey and Marin Čilić already break a record before they even begin by being the oldest selection of last four players since the beginning of the open era in 1968.

Without Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic, it looks set-up for a great opportunity for Roger Federer to add his eighth Wimbledon championship title to his impressive collection of titles. Federer is the first man to play in 12 semi-finals at Wimbledon.

Tomáš Berdych will still feel confident as he was the second player to defeat Federer multiple times in Grand Slam events - his victories coming in the 2010 Wimbledon quarter-finals and the 2012 US Open semi-finals.

The San Francisco born Sam Querrey defeated defending champion Andy Murray in the quarter-finals and by reaching the semi-finals he has surpassed his previous grand slam singles' best performance.

Marin Čilić makes his first Wimbledon semi-final and is desperate to add to his biggest career success of winning the 2014 US Open by claiming another grand slam on Sunday. It is all set up for an eventful and exciting day at the world's oldest tennis tournament.
