Event of the Day: England v South Africa

Our event of the day...

is the second day of the second test at Trent Bridge between England and South Africa. England won the first test match by 211 runs. In a closely contested first day of this second test, South Africa reached 309 runs for the loss of 6 wickets.

The highlight of the day was a powerful 113 run partnership between Hashim Amla and the explosive Quinton de Kock. England wrestled back control and had the Proteas at 235 for 6 with Stuart Broad the pick of the bowlers, however South Africa finished strong with Vernon Philander and Chris Morris guiding themselves to 309 for 6 and seeing off a tricky 10 overs of the new ball in the meantime. Day two is set up excellently for a fascinating day of cricket.

In Super Rugby it is the final round of fixtures for the regular season, after the excitement of the Lions tour, the all New Zealand clash between the Hurricanes and Crusaders in Wellington is the pick of the six games today.
