Event of the Day: Major League Baseball All-Star Game

Our event of the day is the 88th Major League Baseball All-Star Game at Marlins Park, Miami, Florida. The All-Star Game sees professional MLB players from both the American League and the National League battle each other in a one-off game. It has become a special spectacle in the sporting calendar ever since it's first match in 1933. The American League team has won the last four All-Star games and the National League team are desperate for their first win since 2013. The National League currently lead the overall series with 43 wins to the American League's 42 wins with 2 matches drawn. The American league roster includes José Ramírez, José Altuve, Justin Smoak and Carlos Correa. Ryan Zimmerman, Daniel Murphy, Charlie Blackmon and Buster Posey all feature for National League. With the very best players from both MLB leagues battling it out to see who is the best, it will be an enjoyable and intriguing watch.

Honourable mentions around the globe go to stage 10 of the Tour De France. After a day’s rest riders will be racing from Périgueux down south to Bergerac. Wimbledon sees Novak Djokovic up against Adrian Mannarino in the round of 16 as well as the quarter-final matches in the Women’s draw. Five time single‘s champion Venus Williams is in action as she takes on French Open winner Jeļena Ostapenko. Sixth seeded British player Johanna Konta takes on second seeded Romanian player Simona Halep on Centre Court. The Women’s Cricket World Cup sees West Indies battle Pakistan at Grace Road in Leicester. There is a T20 Blast match between Northants and Yorkshire at the County Ground in Northampton - both sides have won one game and lost one game so far in this year's tournament. Men’s Hockey World League Semi-Finals pool matches continue with a selection of four fixtures in Johannesburg.
