Event of the Day: British F1 Grand Prix

The event of the day...

is the F1 British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

Formula One returns with the Drivers' Championship excitingly poised with Mercedes' drivers Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas, with 151 and 136 points respectively, in hot pursuit of leader Sebastian Vettel, who has 171 points. In the Constructor's Standings, Mercedes with 287 points lead Ferrari who are on 254 points. Lewis Hamilton was the quickest in qualifying, sitting ahead of Ferrari's Kimi Räikkönen and Vettel in the Silverstone starting grid.

Last time out at the Austrian Grand Prix, Mercedes' driver Bottas claimed victory by successfully holding off Vettel in the closing stages. Last year at the British Grand Prix, Hamilton dominated the race easily winning having led from start to finish. It will be an exciting watch in front of the passionate British crowd, with the Mercedes' drivers desperate to make a dent in Vettel's championship lead.
