Event of the Day: Hockey World League Semifinals - Quarterfinals

The event of the day is the Quarterfinals of the Hockey World League Semifinals in London. The Pool stage ended on Tuesday, which saw Argentina and the Netherlands top their pool groups. The Netherlands won all four of their pool games beating India, Canada, Pakistan and Scotland - they take on China in the quarters. Unbeaten Argentina face Pakistan in their quarter-final, Argentinian player Gonzalo Peillat is the tournament's top goal scorer with 11 goals. Hosts England are also unbeaten and finished second in Pool A, they have a quarter-final meeting with Canada. The final quarter-final clash sees India take on Malaysia. Scotland play South Korea in the game no one wants to play - the 9th and 10th place playoff game. A day filled with high quality hockey will be an intriguing watch with four semi-final places up for grabs.

Honourable mentions around the globe go to the UEFA European Under-21 Championship final group A games in Poland. England take on the hosts Poland in Kielce knowing a victory would secure them a semi-final place. The second game of the day is Sweden against Slovakia in Lublin. It is day 4 at the Queen's Club Championship and Andy Murray conqueror Jordan Thompson takes on Sam Querrey and fourth seed Marin Čilić plays Stefan Kozlov. In AFL action, the Adelaide Crows welcome the Hawthorn Hawks to the Adelaide Oval. The FIFA Confederations Cup continues as Cameroon face Australia and World Champions Germany clash with Chile.
