This Week in Sport: 6th February − 12th February 2023

February continues to provide some excellent sporting entertainment globally. On Monday, the Alpine Skiing World Championships gets underway with the Women’s Alpine Combined and Super G competitions, and on Tuesday, Sheffield United have a replay with Wrexham in the FA Cup Fourth Round. The Boston Celtics play the Philadelphia 76ers in the NBA on Wednesday and Thursday is the start of the Waste Management Phoenix Open on the PGA Tour.

The weekend starts with the New York Rangers hosting the Seattle Kraken on Friday, and on Saturday, Ireland take on reigning champions France in the Six Nations. The week is finished perfectly with the NFL season reaching its conclusion with the Philadelphia Eagles playing the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII.

After the opening ceremony on Sunday 5th February in Courchevel, the Alpine Skiing World Championships gets underway starting with the Women’s Combined competition in Meribel.

FA Cup: Sheffield United v Wrexham

Bramall Lane, Sheffield

After a thrilling 3-3 draw in the Fourth Round of the FA Cup, Wrexham head to Sheffield for the replay. The winner of this match will go through to play Tottenham Hotspur in the Fifth Round.

NBA: Boston Celtics v Philadelphia 76ers

The Boston Celtics are clinging on to the top spot in the Eastern Conference but the competition is heating up as the season progresses. The Philadelphia 76ers will be keen to get back to their winning ways after their 8 win streak came to an end against the New York Knicks.

PGA Tour: Waste Management Phoenix Open Day 1

The WM Phoenix Open attracts nearly 500,000 spectators every year, who are key to the excellent atmosphere on this course. Scottie Scheffler won the title in 2022.

NHL: New York Rangers v Seattle Kraken

Madison Square Garden, New York

This will be the second time that these two teams have met this season. In their first game, the Seattle Kraken beat the New York Rangers 3-2 in overtime.

Six Nations: Ireland v France

Saturday 11th February 2:15PM GMT/2:15PM Local Time

Aviva Stadium, Dublin

Reigning champions, France, travel to Dublin for the second weekend of the Six Nations. In their first matches, Ireland had a convincing win against Wales, and France had a closely fought win against Italy. France will need to make some improvements to be in with a chance of keeping their title.

NFL: Super Bowl LVII: Philadelphia Eagles v Kansas City Chiefs

Sunday 12th February 11:30PM GMT/4:30PM Local Time

State Farm Stadium, Glendale

The NFL reaches its season conclusion with Super Bowl LVII. The Eagles had a convincing 31-7 win over the 49ers to cement their place in the Super Bowl, whilst the Chiefs had a closely fought 23-20 win over the Bengals. The Eagles are slight favourites to become champions, but anything can happen on the day and this game will provide excellent viewing for all.
