This is the eighth edition of the tournament and the first time it has been held in Ireland. The most successful team has been New Zealand with four victories, followed by England with two and the United States with one. The current World Cup holders, England, are in good form winning all three of their group games convincingly. France, however will prove to be a stern test, moving through the group stages unbeaten and knocking out hosts Ireland in the process.

England are excited to welcome Lydia Thompson back in to the team, on the wing, after her recovery from a knee injury. France, on the other hand, have suffered a tough blow with flanker and one of the players of the tournament, Romane Meneger, out of the game due to injury.
