Event of the Day: Manchester City v Everton

Our event of the day...

is the Premier League game between Manchester City and Everton at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester. The last time the two teams met it was a convincing 4-0 win to Everton at Goodison Park in January - the heaviest league defeat of Pep Guardiola's managerial career. However Everton's last away win at the Etihad was all the way back in December 2010, when they won 2-1. Everton will hope to give Icelandic new signing Gylfi Sigurdsson his debut - he signed on Wednesday from Swansea City for a fee believed to be approximately £45 million.

Both sides won their first game of the season, City beating Brighton away and Everton winning at home against Stoke City with a goal from returning Toffees' legend Wayne Rooney after 13 years at Manchester United. This should be an excellent Monday night of Premiership football.

Honourable mentions...

around the globe go to day one of the Badminton World Championships at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow, Scotland. With just a week to go before the US Open tennis begins - the final outdoor hard court events before the action begins at Flushing Meadows are the Winston-Salem Open on the ATP tour and the Connecticut Open in New Haven on the WTA tour - both events enter their second day. It is stage three of the Vuelta a España, a 158.5km mountain stage from Prades Conflent Canigó to Andorra.

Whatever you’re watching, enjoy!
