Event of the Day: Azerbaijan F1 Grand Prix

The event of the day is the Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Baku. This weekend will see the battle to be the quickest between Ferrari and Mercedes continue in Southeast Europe. This will be the second time the F1 world has been focused on the Baku City Street Circuit after its first Grand Prix last year. Lewis Hamilton will be searching for back-to-back Grand Prix wins after claiming victory in Canada a fortnight ago. However, he will have stark memories of last year, when he crashed in Q3 and had to start from 10th place on the grid whilst teammate Nico Rosberg claimed victory. Sebastian Vettel leads the championships by 12 points and will be hoping to become the first Ferrari driver to win the Baku GP and extend his lead. The Baku City Circuit has some stunning corners and incredible scenery and it will be an intriguing spectacle.

Honourable mentions around the globe go to the final from Queen's as Marin Čilić takes on Feliciano López. Moto GP heads to the Netherlands for the Assen Grand Prix. The ICC Women’s World Cup sees Pakistan clash with South Africa at Grace Road in Leicester. The final of the Hockey World League Semi-Finals takes place with the Netherlands up against Argentina. There is UFC action with Kevin Lee battling Michael Chiesa. The FIFA Confederations Cup from Russia sees Copa America champions Chile go up against Australia and Germany clash with African Cup of Nations champions Cameroon.
