Event of the Day: England v South Africa

Our event of the day...

is the final day of the third test match between England and South Africa at the Oval. The question is can England close out an impressive victory or can South Africa hold out for a heroic draw?

England had set the Proteas what would be a record breaking target of 492 to win. South Africa have lost 4 wickets for 117 runs so lie 375 runs behind the near impossible win. South Africa need to survive 98 overs for the draw and England need 6 wickets for the win. If South Africa are going to hold on, current batsmen Dean Elgar and Temba Bavuma will be the key - Elgar currently sits on 72 and Bavuma on 16. Toby Roland-Jones and Ben Stokes will hope to add to their achievements in the test so far by taking further wickets - the two players are fighting it out for man of the match honours, Roland-Jones with his 48 runs and 6 wickets and Stokes with his 143 runs and 3 wickets. The weather is set to be good for the day and we will hopefully see an exciting day of cricket.
