Event of the Day: Hungarian F1 Grand Prix

Our event of the day...

is the Formula One Hungarian Grand Prix at the Hungaroring near Budapest. Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel qualified in pole position with teammate Kimi Räikkönen directly behind him securing a Ferrari one-two on the grid. It is a Mercedes second row with Valtteri Bottas in third and Lewis Hamilton in fourth after he suffered a frustrating qualifying session, regularly complaining of tyre issues.

The Drivers' Championship is excitingly poised with Hamilton just one point behind Vettel, but it is likely that gap will grow considering how hard it will be for the British driver to move up from fourth considering the Hungaroring is known for the difficulty of overtaking. Mercedes have a comfortable lead in the Constructors' Championship but it is looking like it will be a good weekend for Ferrari unless Bottas and Hamilton can turn their weekend around and put in some sensational performances. Before we move into the F1 summer break this should be an exciting race with the leading teams trying desperately to hold the advantage as the season enters it's second half.
