Event of the Day: Shanghai Masters

Our event of the day...

is Rafael Nadal’s round of 32 match against Jared Donaldson at the  ATP Shanghai Masters. Top seed Nadal will be favourite to progress and will be looking to follow up on his victory at the China Open earlier this month. American Donaldson saw off Uruguayan Pablo Cuevas to book his place in this round but is under no illusions of the task facing him today.

Today promises to be an exciting game between one of the sport’s upcoming stars and one of tennis’s greatest names. After only turning 21 on Monday, Donaldson hit 14 aces in his win last round and will be looking to call upon his strong serve as he plays 31-year-old Nadal. The Spaniard, however, has looked in good form coming into the Shanghai Masters after beating Australian Nick Kyrgios in the China Open final 6-2 6-1. Nadal will be the favourite to advance but will need to navigate what could be a tricky tie against the young American.

Honourable mentions...

around the globe go to MLB as the Cleveland Indians take on the New York Yankees in a Division Series deciding match at Progressive Field. The series is currently tied 2-2 thanks to a 7-3 win for the Yankees last time out.

It's the second leg of the  Women’s Champions League tie between FC Bayern Munich Women and Chelsea Ladies at Grünwalder Stadion in Munich. Chelsea won the first leg 1-0 at Cherry Red Records Stadium last week thanks to a first half strike from Drew Spence. There are five NHL fixtures, including the Washington Capitals versus the Pittsburgh Penguins at Capital One Arena. It’s the second stage of the  UCI World Tour Presidential Tour of Turkey from Kumluca to Fethiye.

Whatever you’re watching, enjoy!
