Event of the Day: Austrian F1 Grand Prix

Our event of the day is the F1 Austrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg. A fortnight after an intriguing battle in Baku, Formula One resumes with the world championship fight coming to the boil between Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel and Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton. Tensions were raised when Vettel nudged into his championship rival in Baku. He received a 10-second penalty but still ended the race ahead - the gap at the top is now 14 points as we go into today's race. Mercedes have a great record at this circuit, winning every race since it has been held in Austria in 2014, including last year’s Lewis Hamilton victory. Ferrari will be looking to end that run and claim their first win on Austrian soil since 2003. Another afternoon of wheel-to-wheel action is in store and this will be an exciting watch.

Honourable mentions around the globe go to the ninth Diamond League athletics meeting of the season as the Anniversary Games returns to the London Stadium - Mo Farah, Greg Rutherford and Adam Gemili will all be taking part. It is the fourth day between England and South Africa in the first test at Lord's. At the UEFA European U-19 Championship in Georgia there is a clash between rivals England and Germany and the Netherlands take on Bulgaria. In Super League, Salford Red Devils host Leeds Rhinos at the AJ Bell. It is Stage 9 of the Tour de France, today's route will be a testing one for the cyclists as it is a mountain stage from Nantua to Chambéry. The ICC Women's World Cup continues with hosts England clashing with holders Australia at the Bristol County Ground and the West Indies are also in action with a match against Sri Lanka at the County Ground in Derby. From Sabina Park in Kingston, Jamaica there is a men's T20 clash between the West Indies and India.

Whatever you are watching, enjoy!
