Event of the Day: India v Pakistan

Our event of the day is the ICC Champions Trophy clash between holders India and bitter rivals Pakistan at Edgbaston Cricket Ground. India start their defence at the ground they won the trophyin 2013, beating England by five runs. Pakistan have never won this title since it began in 1998 and they didn’t win a single game four years ago. The scale of this match is extraordinary with a predicted global audience of over 1 billion people.

Honourable mentions around the globe go to Game Two of the NBA finals in Oakland as the Golden State Warriors do battle with the Cleveland Cavaliers. There is a good selection of Super League action with Castleford Tigers hosting St Helens and Salford Red Devils welcoming Wakefield Wildcats to the AJ Bell Stadium. The French Open reaches Day 8 as the tournament edges towards the finals with some exciting men's and women's last 16 ties. The Italian MotoGP at the Mugello Circuit in Tuscany should be thrilling.
