Event of the Day: World Table Tennis Championships Finals

Our event of the day is the final day of the 2017 World Table Tennis Championships in Düsseldorf, Germany. Eight days of sensational table tennis from the world's best comes to a close today. The final days play features the men’s singles semi-finals and final as well as the women’s doubles semi-finals and final. Top seed Ma Long is still in the running to win his second world men’s title of his career. In the women’s doubles, Chinese pairings Ding Ning and Liu Shiwen and Zhu Yuling and Chen Meng are expected to meet in the final as the top remaining seeds left - an interesting situation considering Shiwen and Yuling used to be playing partners and are the reigning champions.

Honourable mentions across the globe go to Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Finals, Nashville Predators pulled a win back on Saturday after beating the Pittsburgh Penguins 5-1, Penguins however still lead the series 2-1. In the ICC Champions Trophy, Australia face Bangladesh at the Oval. Both, Australia and Bangladesh are aiming for their first victory of the tournament. Australia’s opener with New Zealand was abandoned due to bad weather and Bangladesh were beaten by hosts England by eight wickets in their first game. The French Open continues with more men's and women's Last 16 singles matches - Stan Wawrinka v Gael Monfils, the pick of the games.
