Event of the Day: Championship Playoff Final

Our event of the day is the Championship Playoff Final at Wembley Stadium between Reading and Huddersfield for a place in the Premier League. Reading are looking for a return to the top flight after being relegated in 2013. Their opponents have never played in the Premier League and last featured in the Football League's top division in the 1971-72 season. It is also Huddersfield's first Championship Playoff final. Both sides have had tricky routes to the final with Reading securing a slender 2-1 win over Fulham. It was dramatic for Huddersfield as their semi-final against Sheffield Wednesday had to be decided on penalties, goalkeeper Danny Ward was the hero in a 4-3 win. Both sides recorded 1-0 home wins against each other in the league.

Honourable mentions around the globe go to the Stanley Cup Finals Game 1 in Pennsylvania as 2016 champions Pittsburgh Penguins host the Nashville Predators. Second place Salford Red Devils visit Warrington Wolves and the Catalans Dragons host Hull F.C., just two out of the five Super League matches today. The Royal London ODI series continues between England and South Africa at Lord’s Cricket Ground with England hoping to secure a 3-0 whitewash as perfect preparation for the ICC Champions Trophy which starts on Thursday. However, proceedings at Wembley will be an exciting and intriguing watch where the stakes couldn't be higher. Enjoy.

Have a great day.
