Event of the Day: Denver Broncos v Los Angeles Chargers

Our event of the day is...

the NFL clash between the Denver Broncos and the Los Angeles Chargers at Sports Authority Field at Mile High in Denver. When the teams met in the corresponding fixture last year, the Broncos ran out 27-19 winners.

There has been a lot of attention around the LA Chargers in preseason as they have returned to Los Angeles after a 56 year stay in San Diego. As such, they will be playing their home games at the StubHub Center (shared with the LA Galaxy MLS team) until the 2020 NFL season. The arrangement has raised some eyebrows, with some saying the 27,000 capacity stadium is too small and not befitting an NFL franchise. Despite any off-field distractions, both teams will be looking to make their mark on the opening round of fixtures of this season’s NFL. It is all set to be an intriguing finale to the NFL’s opening weekend.

Honourable mentions...

go to the Premier League match between West Ham and Huddersfield at the London Stadium. West Ham come into the game with their manager Slaven Bilić under pressure after three defeats in their opening three games of the season, in which they have conceded ten goals and scored only two. Newly-promoted Huddersfield on the other hand have had a great start to the season and currently sit above big Premier League names such as Liverpool and Arsenal.

In the NFL, the other Monday night game is the New Orleans Saints visit to the Minnesota Vikings at the U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In MLB, there are eight games with the pick of the day being the clash between the New York Yankees and the Tampa Bay Rays at Citi Field, New York - the Rays are the home team as Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida is not safe to use due to the devastating impact of Hurricane Imra .

Whatever you’re watching, enjoy!
