Event of the Day: Floyd Mayweather v Conor McGregor

Our event of the day...

is the fight between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. This unique event will see MMA specialist and UFC Lightweight Champion McGregor turn his attention to boxing, as the Irishman makes his professional debut in the ring this evening. Since making his UFC debut in April 2013, McGregor has established a record of nine wins from ten fights, his only defeat coming from a fight with Nate Diaz in March 2016. A rematch between the pair ended with McGregor beating Diaz on points which was the highest selling pay-per-view in UFC history.

The illustrious career of Mayweather has seen him emerge victorious from all 49 professional boxing fights he has previously been involved in – 26 of which have been won by knockout. Another victory for the American will see him surpass the incredible 49-0 record kept by the late Rocky Marciano. The impressive record of Mayweather has not deterred McGregor however, who has vowed to knock the American out within the opening one or two rounds. Mayweather has been knocked to the canvas just once during his career, in a fight with Carlos Hernandez in 2001 – Floyd went on to win the fight by unanimous decision. It is all set-up for a thrilling night of action and entertainment in Las Vegas.
