Event of the Day: England v Pakistan

The event of the day is the ICC Champions Trophy semi-final between hosts England and Pakistan at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff. England are the only team in the last four who go into the semi-finals unbeaten as they aim to win their first 50-over one day international title. Victories over Australia, New Zealand and Bangladesh saw them go through as group winners. Batsmen Ben Stokes' impressive 102 not out innings against Australia was one of the highlights of the group stages. After a heavy defeat to bitter rivals India, Pakistan have rejuvenated themselves to make the semi-finals by beating South Africa and Sri Lanka in their last two matches. Captain and wicketkeeper Sarfraz Ahmed and star bowler Mohammad Amir saw Pakistan home against Sri Lanka in an impressive 75 run 8th wicket partnership on Monday. A victory today will see Pakistan make their first appearance at an ICC Champions Trophy Final whereas England have made the final on two previous occasions (2004 and 2013). With Sunday's final on the horizon today's clash in Cardiff will be exciting viewing.
