Event of the Day: Baltimore Ravens v Houston Texans

Our event of the day
is the NFL clash between the Baltimore Ravens and the Houston Texans at the M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore. Monday night football brings the fight of two AFC teams who will give their all to keep their play-off hopes alive as we reach the business end of the regular season. Both sides trail their division leaders but are still in with a chance of a Wild Card spot - Baltimore currently have a 5-5 record whereas Houston sit with a 4-6 record. The Ravens have won seven matches in the total of nine meetings with the Texans, and have never lost against them at home. One of those triumphs was a January 2012 20-13 play-off game victory but the Ravens would go on to lose to the New England Patriots the following weekend in the AFC Championship game. Houston have come out on top twice in the last three encounters between the sides, the last encounter being a 25-13 Texans win back in December 2014.
The Raven’s stop-start season may have been kickstarted again with a comfortable 23-0 win away to the Green Bay Packers last weekend. The Texans raised their confidence levels as well, beating the Arizona Cardinals 31-21 at home and ending a three-game losing streak. The Ravens will once again rely on their 7th ranked defence, as their offense is ranked down in 31st in the league. The 13th ranked Texans Offense will need to perform and there 20th ranked defence will need to step-up. With lots of competition for the two AFC wild card spots, a win today at the M&T Bank Stadium could be crucial, so a high-intensity and exciting game is expected.

Honourable mentions
around the globe go to the final day of the first Test match of the 2017-18 Magellan Ashes series between Australia and England at the Gabba in Brisbane. The home side require just 56 runs with all 10 wickets remaining to claim a 1-0 lead in the series. In the NBA, the Boston Celtics host the Detroit Pistons at the TD Garden in the pick of the day’s games. Boston are the leading the Eastern Conference with an 18-3 record score, while Detroit sit second in the Conference with a 12-6 record. There are five games in the NHL with the Chicago Blackhawks against the Anaheim Ducks at the United Center our pick of the day. In Europe’s top football leagues, Espanyol face Getafe at the RCDE Stadium in La Liga and in Serie A Atalanta play Benevento at the Stadio Atleti Azzuri d’Italia in Bergamo. And at Loftus Road, Queens Park Rangers will be up against Brentford in the English Championship.
