Event of the Day: Abu Dhabi F1 Grand Prix

Our event of the day is the Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at the Yas Marina Circuit. This is the final race of the season and despite the championship been decided, it will still be a race full of excitement. Lewis Hamilton confirmed his fourth Formula 1 World Championship at the Mexican Grand Prix at the end of October. Like in the main driver’s championship, the winner of the constructor’s championship has already been confirmed, as Mercedes have already got their name on it for the fourth consecutive season. Mercedes driver Valtteri Bottas is on pole, with Hamilton in second and Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel sits in third.

A notable change in the driver’s championship that could happen on this final weekend is whether Kimi Räikkönen can overtake Daniel Ricciardo in 4th-place in the overall standings - as there are just seven points separating the two drivers. Regardless of the lack of impact on the overall season, it still should be a thrilling race.

Honourable mentions around the globe go to the Premier League fixture between newly-promoted Huddersfield Town and league leaders, Manchester City. Huddersfield are enjoying life in their first Premier League season and are currently 10th in the top flight with 15 points while their opponents are clear league leaders. Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are five points clear of Manchester United at the top of the table and could extend their lead this weekend against the Terriers. Also, there’s plenty of NHL action to get stuck into with the New York Rangers taking on the Vancouver Canucks the pick of the games. It’s day four of the first Ashes test between England and Australia. In the NFL, the New Orleans Saints visit the Los Angeles Rams in an exciting match up while you can enjoy the game between the Phoenix Suns and the Minnesota Timberwolves in the NBA. The UBS Hong Kong Open moves into the final day and there is a great game in the Aviva Premiership as the Exeter Chiefs make the trip to London to face Saracens.

Whatever you’re watching, enjoy.
