The Vidarbha cricket team represents the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra in India’s domestic cricket competitions and is administered by the Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA). The team competes in the Ranji Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, covering first-class, List A and T20 cricket. Vidarbha became a major force in Indian domestic cricket by winning back-to-back Ranji Trophy titles in the 2017–18 and 2018–19 seasons. The team also claimed the Irani Cup in 2018 and 2019, adding to its record of notable achievements. Former India batter Wasim Jaffer, international fast bowler Umesh Yadav, and captain Faiz Fazal have been among the players associated with Vidarbha’s success. Other prominent contributors include Akshay Wakhare, Aditya Sarwate and wicketkeeper-batter Akshay Wadkar. Vidarbha plays its home matches at venues managed by the VCA, including the modern Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Jamtha, Nagpur, and the VCA Ground in Civil Lines. With strong performances across domestic formats and a growing history of championship success, Vidarbha remains one of India’s most respected state cricket teams.

Madhya Pradesh cricket team represents the state of Madhya Pradesh in India’s domestic cricket competitions and is governed by the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA). The team regularly competes in the Ranji Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, covering first-class, one-day and T20 cricket. Its landmark achievement came in the 2021–22 Ranji Trophy, when Madhya Pradesh won its first title by defeating Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy0 in the final at Bengaluru. The championship was led by captain Aditya Shrivastava and coach Chandrakant Pandit, who had also guided the team to the final in 1998–99. Notable players associated with Madhya Pradesh include Rajat Patidar, Venkatesh Iyer, Avesh Khan, Naman Ojha and Devendra Bundela, several of whom have represented India or featured in the Indian Premier League. Indore’s Holkar Stadium is the team’s principal home venue and has hosted international and domestic matches. Madhya Pradesh’s cricketing history also includes the Holkar team, a prominent pre-independence side that won four Ranji Trophy titles. Today, the state team remains a competitive presence in Indian domestic cricket, developing players through the MPCA system and pursuing success across all three major tournaments.
