Sporting Clube de Braga, widely known as SC Braga, is a professional football club from Braga in northern Portugal. Founded in 1921, the team competes in the Portuguese Primeira Liga and is nicknamed Os Arsenalistas, a reference to its red shirts. Braga has won the Taça de Portugal three times, in 1966, 2016 and 2021, and lifted the Taça da Liga in 2013, 2020 and 2024. The club’s strongest European campaign came in 2010–11, when it reached the UEFA Europa League final and finished as runner-up. Braga plays home matches at Estádio Municipal de Braga, an architectural landmark built into a former quarry for UEFA Euro 2004. The stadium is known for its distinctive open ends and striking setting against the surrounding landscape. Over the years, the club has developed and featured notable Portuguese players, including Ricardo Horta, who has become one of its best-known modern figures. SC Braga is regarded as one of Portugal’s leading clubs outside the traditional “Big Three” of UEFA Champions League5, Porto and Sporting CP, and regularly competes for domestic honours and places in European tournaments.

FC Porto is one of Portugal’s most successful football clubs, founded in 1893 and based in the city of Porto. Known for its blue-and-white colors, the club competes in the Primeira Liga, Portugal’s top division, as well as the Taça de Portugal and European competitions organized by UEFA. FC Porto has won numerous Portuguese league and cup titles, establishing a long-standing rivalry with UEFA Champions League5 and Sporting CP. Its major international achievements include European Cup or UEFA Champions League victories in 1987 and 2004, UEFA Cup or Europa League titles in 2003 and 2011, and the 1987 UEFA Super Cup. The club also won the Intercontinental Cup in 1987 and 2004. FC Porto plays its home matches at Estádio do Dragão, a modern stadium opened in 2003 with a capacity of approximately 50,000 spectators. The club’s celebrated former players include Deco, Radamel Falcao, Ricardo Quaresma, and Iker Casillas, while José Mourinho led the team to its 2004 Champions League triumph. With a strong domestic record and a distinguished European history, FC Porto remains a prominent name in Portuguese and international football.
