 Our event of the day...

After being bowled out for only 142 in their first innings and making 40 runs for the first 3 wickets in their second innings, Middlesex trail Somerset by 304 runs with 7 wickets remaining after play was stopped early in Taunton due to rain. It’s going to be a close final day as these two teams look to avoid relegation. with the game between Somerset and Middlesex at The Cooper Associates County Ground in Taunton going down to the wire. Somerset have 96 overs to get the 7 wickets they need to maintain their status as a Division 1 team. A loss for Middlesex doesn’t necessarily spell relegation, however. Hampshire have a target of 259 to win their game against Warwickshire at Edgbaston and if they fail to do so and Somerset win, Somerset and Middlesex will be guaranteed safety at Hampshire’s expense. So on the last day of the championship, both Somerset and Middlesex can stay up with a win, while Hampshire are in the mix too. It’s set to be a tense finale.

Honourable mentions...

around the globe go to the fist Super League semi-final between Castleford Tigers and St. Helens at The Mend-A-Hose Jungle in West Yorkshire. St. Helens have been here before, having made the Grand Final 11 times, while victory today would give the Tigers their first shot at the title. St Helens were 26-12 winners on their last visit to the Jungle back in August.

Meanwhile in the Europa League, Arsenal travel to Belarus to face BATE Borisov in what could be a tricky fixture. In golf, it’s the first day of the British Masters at Close House Golf Club in Newcastle. This year’s competition sees one of the strongest fields ever, with the likes of Rory McIlroy and Sergio Garcia in attendance. In the Wuhan Open, Karolína Plíšková is up against Ashleigh Barty who beat Agnieszka Radwańska in the previous round. In the NFL the Green Bay Packers take on the Chicago Bears at Lambeau Field.

Whatever you’re watching, enjoy.
