That’s followed by the Toronto Blue Jays hosting the Houston Astros in an exciting MLB game on Tuesday. On Wednesday, England and South Africa play the first of three T20 International matches. There’s an individual time trial stage in the Vuelta a España on Thursday, and Adelaide take on Hawthorn in the Semifinals of the AFL Finals on Friday.

Heading into the weekend, there is plenty more to enjoy. On Saturday, Canelo Álvarez fights Terence Crawford for the undisputed Super Middleweight boxing title, and on Sunday, India face Pakistan at the Asia Cup.

NFL: Chicago Bears v Minnesota Vikings

Monday 8th September 12:15AM GMT (9th)/7:15PM Local

Soldier Field, Chicago

The Chicago Bears host the Minnesota Vikings at Soldier Field in Chicago, in the final game of Week 1 of the NFL season. The Bears will look to return to NFC relevance under new head coach Ben Johnson. Second-year starting quarterback Caleb Williams will look to utilise talented second-year receiver Rome Odunze, rookie tight end Colston Loveland, and veterans such as D.J. Moore and D’Andre Swift. They face the Minnesota Vikings, who will debut their first-round Quarterback selection from 2024, J.J. McCarthy. With a potent offense headlined by Justin Jefferson and T.J. Hockenson, the Vikings are once again expected to be major contenders in the Conference. However, they will have to avoid being upset by a Chicago team trying to make a statement this season.

MLB: Toronto Blue Jays v Houston Astros

Tuesday 9th September 11:07PM GMT/7:07PM Local

Rogers Center, Toronto

The Toronto Blue Jays host the Houston Astros at the Rogers Center in Toronto for a MLB game between two division leaders. The Blue Jays, anchored by Bo Bichette, George Springer, and Vladimir Guerrero Jr., lead the American League East and look to continue holding off the Yankees in order to win their first division title since 2015. Meanwhile, the Astros are also locked in a division battle. While they hold first place in the AL West, their lead over the Seattle Mariners is relatively slim. Every win counts for Houston if they are to capture their fifth consecutive division title behind the bats of Jose Altuve and Jeremy Peña. The teams have not met since April, when Houston took a 3-0 series sweep at home. Who will win this game and this latest series?

Cricket in England: England v South Africa (1st T20I)

Wednesday 10th September 5:30PM GMT/6:30PM Local

Sophia Gardens, Cardiff

England host South Africa at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff for the first of three T20 International matches between the two sides. Sam Curran rejoins the England squad for the first time this year after South Africa clinically exposed the hosts’ reliance on a bowling-by-committee approach during the first two ODIs between the two sides. Meanwhile, South Africa returns aggressive veteran batter David Miller to the T20 squad, as well as Donovan Ferreira. Miller missed South Africa’s Tour of Australia due to his franchise commitments in The Hundred, where he hit 133 runs in 5 innings for the Northern Superchargers. Ferreira also played in The Hundred, tallying 181 runs in 7 innings for the title-winning Oval Invincibles. After South Africa dominated the first two ODIs, England set a record, for winning margin, in the third. Who will carry the momentum into the T20 format?

Vuelta a España: Vuelta a España Day 18

Thursday 11th September 12:12PM GMT/2:12PM Local

Valladolid, Spain

The Vuelta a España continues with a 26km individual time trial around the city of Valladolid. Entering the week, Jonas Vingegaard draws ever closer to his first Vuelta general classification title and first Grand Tour title since the 2023 Tour de France. He leads rival João Almeida by 48 seconds heading into the final stages. Vingegaard has ridden an exceptional race, but he cannot rest on his laurels. UAE Team Emirates XRG have an impressively deep team who are prepared to go all out in an effort to see Almeida pip Vingegaard in the race’s final week. La Vuelta continues until Sunday, where the race concludes in Madrid.

AFL: Adelaide Crows v Hawthorn

Friday 12th September 9:40AM GMT/7:10PM Local

Adelaide Oval, Adelaide

Adelaide host Hawthorn in an exciting AFL Semi-final at the Adelaide Oval in Adelaide. This match is truly a tale of two very contrasting teams. Adelaide, the 2025 minor premiers, were stunned in the opening round by Collingwood. This puts the Crows once-promising season on the ropes, with the hopes of earning their first AFL Premiership since 1998 fading. Meanwhile, the eighth-seeded Hawthorn look to continue their Cinderella run after seeing off the fifth-seeded Greater Western Sydney in the first round. The Hawks are looking to make their first Preliminary Final appearance since their title-winning run in 2015. Can Adelaide right the ship? Or will Hawthorn score another upset and move on to face Geelong for a place in the Grand Final?

Boxing Fights: Canelo Álvarez v Terence Crawford

Saturday 13th September 3:00AM GMT (14th)/8:00PM Local

Allegiant Stadium, Las Vegas

Canelo Álvarez fights Terence Crawford for the undisputed Super Middleweight boxing title at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. This once-in-a-generation fight pits the 63-2-2 Álvarez against the 41-0 Terence Crawford. Álvarez enters as the belt holder and will seek to remain the only undisputed Super Middleweight champion in history. Meanwhile, Crawford looks to become the first male boxer to become a three-division undisputed champion in the four-belt era. Both men are knockout specialists, but neither has been knocked down officially, in their professional careers. Will that change under the lights in Las Vegas? Or is this fight destined to go to the scorecards?

Asia Cup (Cricket): India v Pakistan

Sunday 14th September 2:30PM GMT/6:30PM Local

Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai

India face Pakistan in the group stage of the Asia Cup at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai, this edition will be played in the T20 format. The two favourites to progress from Group A will likely be playing for the honour of winning the group. India are spoiled for choice when it comes to their lineup, which is expected to be led by familiar faces Shubman Gill and Jasprit Bumrah. However, there are still places in the team to be won, with a number of players returning from extended hiatuses or injury. Watch out for Abhishek Sharma, the 25-year-old making his major tournament debut since becoming India’s first-choice opener. Meanwhile, Pakistan, who have not won the Asia Cup since 2012 (which was in the ODI format), also bring a wealth of fascinating players to the UAE. Keep an eye on quick bowler Salman Mirza, who recently earned his first national call-up after a stellar season in the Pakistan Super League. There is every possibility that this match is a preview of the tournament Final later this month, so expect plenty of fireworks.
