NHL: Utah Mammoth v Vegas Golden Knights

Monday 27th April 1:30AM GMT (28th)/7:30PM Local

Delta Center, Salt Lake City

The Utah Mammoth host the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 4 of their first-round NHL playoff series at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City. The Mammoth enter this pivotal match-up with a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven series after taking Games 2 and 3. That gives the Mammoth, appearing in their first ever postseason, all the momentum heading into the back half of the series. Lawson Crouse was the hero of the hour in Game 3, scoring twice as the Mammoth put away the 2023 Stanley Cup winners early, holding a 4-1 lead heading into the third period. Meanwhile, the Golden Knights will need to rally quickly if they are to avoid their second first-round exit in the last three seasons. Regular-season goals leader Pavel Dorofeyev is yet to score in the postseason, and the decision to start Carter Hart in goal appears to be backfiring as the veteran has already allowed nine goals through three games. With another win, Utah will put themselves one game away from the next round. The series continues with Game 5 on Wednesday, and Games 6 and 7 on Friday and Sunday, if they are needed.

Indian Premier League: Punjab Kings v Rajasthan Royals

Tuesday 28th April 2:00PM GMT/7:30PM Local

Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Tira

The Punjab Kings face the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur. The Kings remain undefeated at the top of the IPL table, with six wins in six completed matches. Shreyas Iyer’s side is quickly establishing themselves as the team to beat in the league as they seek revenge for their Grand Final loss last season. However, their winning streak might be at risk in this match. The Rajasthan Royals, who finished ninth in the ten-team league last year, have been one of the surprise stories of the IPL season so far. They began the season 4-0 and, while they have gone 1-3 in their last four matches, still present an intriguing factor in the postseason race. 15-year-old phenom Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is one of the league’s best batters, while Jofra Archer is amongst the top wicket-takers through the first half of the season. If the Royals can find their early-season form once again, fans can expect them to be challenging for a postseason spot come the end of the season. This should be an exciting match.

UEFA Champions League: Atlético Madrid v Arsenal

Wednesday 29th April 7:00PM GMT/9:00PM Local

Metropolitano Stadium, Madrid

Atlético Madrid host Arsenal in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League Semifinals at the Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid. Atlético appear in their first Champions League Semifinal since 2017 after a stunning performance in the Quarterfinals against Barcelona. While the attacking trio of Alexander Sørloth, Julián Alvarez, and Antoine Griezmann have brought them this far on the back of 17 combined tournament goals, Arsenal will be a whole different beast altogether. The Gunners appear in their second consecutive continental Semifinal and will be determined to reach their first Final since 2006, especially now that they are locked in a bitter Premier League title race with Manchester City as well. Arsenal boasts one of the best defences in the world this season and have backed up that assertion by allowing just five goals in an unbeaten Champions League campaign so far. The only team to score multiple goals against the Londoners in a continental match this season were Kazakh champions, FC Kairat, in the final match of the group stage. However, despite Arsenal’s stellar record, and the 4-0 rout they served Atlético in the League Stage, they would be foolish to count out Diego Simone’s side, who have proven that they can beat anyone on their day.

NBA: Atlanta Hawks v New York Knicks

Thursday 30th April 11:00PM GMT/7:00PM Local

State Farm Arena, Atlanta

The Atlanta Hawks host the New York Knicks in Game 6 of their NBA playoff series at State Farm Arena in Atlanta. Entering the week, this thrilling series is tied at 2-2. The Knicks evened the series over the weekend after the Hawks jumped out to a 2-1 lead following wins in Games 2 and 3. Jalen Johnson has been the heart and soul of this Hawks team, leading them in points, rebounds, and assists this season. However he is not a one-man army, as evidenced by the crucial roles that CJ McCollum, Dyson Daniels, and recently-named Most Improved Player, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, have played during the postseason. The Knicks are truly in urgent win-now mode. The tandem of Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns has been near-unstoppable and it’s shown in the disparity of each team’s respective wins. While the Hawks have won a pair of one-point battles, the Knicks’ two wins have had point differentials of 11 and 16. Whoever wins Tuesday’s Game 5 will have the chance to take the series in this game. If necessary, Game 7 will take place in New York on Saturday.

Snooker Majors: World Championship Day 14

Friday 1st May 10:00AM GMT/11:00AM Local

The Crucible Theatre, Sheffield

The World Snooker Championship continues at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield with Friday seeing the continuation of the Semifinals. Who will be competing for a place in the Final? Can Zhao Xintong continue his excellent tournament and put himself on the verge of breaking the Crucible Curse - of no first-time World Snooker Champion ever successfully defending their title? If he wins his Quarter-final against Shaun Murphy, potential options for his Semi-final opponent include John Higgins, Ronnie O’Sullivan, and Neil Robertson. On the other side of the draw, will Judd Trump be attempting to make another Final? His path to the Semifinals will likely include facing off against Mark Selby in the Quarterfinals. Whoever emerges from that titanic Quarter-final clash will face either Mark Allen or Barry Hawkins. While Allen and Hawkins are the fourteenth and eleventh seeds, respectively, they have each felled one of the giants of the game to reach the Quarterfinals, with Allen beating Kyren Wilson and Hawkins taking down Mark Williams. The Semifinals will formally begin on Thursday and continue through Saturday, before the Final begins on Sunday and continues through next Monday.

WTA Tour: Madrid Open Women’s Singles Final

Saturday 2nd May 12:00PM GMT/2:00PM Local

Caja Mágica, Madrid

The Women’s Singles Final takes place at the Madrid Open at the Caja Mágica in Madrid. Aryna Sabalenka remains on course to challenge for her third title in four years and fourth overall at the event. Her week begins in the Fourth Round against Naomi Osaka. However, several of Sabalenka’s biggest rivals also remain in the field. Elena Rybakina, who beat Sabalenka for the Australian Open title earlier this year, starts the week against the fifty-sixth-ranked Anastasia Potapova. Meanwhile, Coco Gauff, against whom Sabalenka only has a 7-6 career record, faces the thirteenth-seeded Linda Nosková. Other intriguing names left in the draw include eleventh seed, Belinda Bencic, who will likely be Sabalenka’s Quarterfinal opponent if she gets past Osaka, and ninth seed, Mirra Andreeva, The Men’s Singles Final takes place on Sunday.

European Rugby Champions Cup: Bordeaux Bègles v Bath Rugby

Sunday 3rd May 2:00PM GMT/4:00PM Local

Nouveau Stade de Bordeaux, Bordeaux

Bordeaux Bègles face Bath Rugby in the Semifinals of the European Rugby Champions Cup at the Nouveau Stade de Bordeaux in Bordeaux. Can anyone stop Bordeaux on the continental stage? The defending tournament champions are yet to lose in this season’s Champions Cup and have allowed just 29 points across their first two knockout stage matches whilst scoring 94 points. However, Bordeaux will enter this match on a two-game losing streak after dropping domestic contests against La Rochelle and Montpellier. Bath should provide a great contest for the reigning European champions. The defending English champions rested several key contributors in a vital game against the Northampton Saints to give themselves the best chance of winning against the French juggernauts. Bath have not made a Champions Cup Final since lifting the trophy in 1998, but this year’s talented squad, headlined by the likes of Finn Russell, Thomas du Toit and Ollie Lawrence, may have the best chance of returning to the summit of European club rugby union. The winner of this clash will face either Leinster or Toulon in the Final.
