This Week in Sport: 18th December − 24th December 2023

There is a lot of exciting sporting action coming up this week. Monday will see day four of the PDC World Darts Championship take place, West Indies take on England in the fourth of five T20 matches on Tuesday, and Ajax face Bayern Munich in the UEFA Women’s Champions League on Wednesday. On Thursday, the Milwaukee Bucks host the Orlando Magic in the NBA, and the Final of the FIFA Club World Cup takes place on Friday.

Heading into the weekend, Liverpool host Arsenal in the Premier League on Saturday, and NFL action rounds out the week, as the Miami Dolphins face the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.

PDC Darts: Paddy Power World Darts Championship Day 4

The PDC World Darts Championship continues Monday, with notable action taking place on day 4 being Martin Lukeman facing Haupai Puha in Round One, and the 2021 world champion, Gerwyn Price, taking on Connor Scutt in the second round. The competition has already seen some high-quality darts, with some tournament favourites already progressing from the second round, including reigning champion Michael Smith; two-time world champion Gary Anderson; and many people’s favourite for the tournament, Luke Humphries.

Cricket in the West Indies: West Indies v England (4th T20I)

On Tuesday, the T20 series between the West Indies and England will continue, with the fourth match taking place at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad and Tobago. The home side won the first two matches of the series, but England managed to pull the series back to 2-1 last time out, winning the game with one ball left after a superb innings from batsman Phil Salt. The visitors will need to win this match to take the series to a final match decider.

UEFA Women's Champions League: Ajax Vrouwen v FC Bayern München Women

The UEFA Women’s Champion League group stage continues Wednesday, as Dutch champions Ajax face off against the Frauen-Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich at the Johann Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam. The visitors currently sit top of the group with five points, but Roma and Ajax sit closely behind them with four points, meaning a win for the hosts here would see them overtake their opponents on the table.

NBA: Milwaukee Bucks v Orlando Magic

On Thursday, the Milwaukee Bucks take on the Orlando Magic at the Fiserv Forum in the NBA. The hosts currently sit second in the Eastern Conference with a record of 19-7, whilst the Magic have a record of 16-9 and sit fourth in the same division. Both sides have showed their quality this season, and expectations are that this will be a well-contested affair.

FIFA Club World Cup: Final

King Abdullah Sports City, Jeddah

The FIFA Club World Cup will come to its conclusion on Friday, with the Final taking place at the King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah. The matches earlier in the week will decide who will take place in the Final on Friday, with the Semifinals seeing Fluminense face Al Ahly on Monday, and Urawa Reds face a tough match against favourites Manchester City on Tuesday.

Premier League: Liverpool v Arsenal

Anfield, Liverpool

On Saturday, league leaders Arsenal will travel to Anfield to face second place Liverpool in the Premier League. Both sides have looked extremely strong in the first half of the season, only being separated by one point in the table, and a victory here for either side will put them top for Christmas. This is sure to be an exciting match.

NFL: Miami Dolphins v Dallas Cowboys

Sunday 24th December 9:25PM GMT/4:25PM Local Time

Hard Rock Stadium, Miami Gardens

Rounding out the week, NFL action will see the Miami Dolphins host the Dallas Cowboys at the Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday. The hosts currently sit top of the AFC East Division, with a record of 10-4, whilst their opponents are second in the NFC East with the same record, sitting just behind the Philadelphia Eagles in the standings.
