NHL: Minnesota Wild v Colorado Avalanche
Monday 11th May 12:00AM GMT (12th)/7:00PM Local
Grand Casino Arena, Saint Paul
The Minnesota Wild and the Colorado Avalanche face off in Game 4 of their NHL Conference Semifinals series at the Grand Casino Arena in St. Paul. The Avalanche carry a 2-1 series lead into this pivotal clash, though concerns are starting to emerge for the Western Conference regular-season leaders. Goaltender Scott Wedgewood, who had previously gone 6-0 in the playoffs for Colorado, was pulled early in the second period of Minnesota’s vital 5-1 Game 3 win. Backup Mackenzie Blackwood made 12 saves on 13 shots in his first ice time in nearly a month, but Colorado’s offense was unable to rally behind their substitute goalie’s performance. Meanwhile, Minnesota’s goaltender, Jesper Wallstedt, repaid his coach’s faith in him after being benched for Game 2 of the series. The rookie was kept off the ice after allowing nine goals in Colorado’s series-opening win. However, after making 35 saves in Game 3, the rookie seems to be back in form. In front of the home crowd, the Wild can tie up the series and put the Avalanche in a tense position. The series will continue throughout the week, with Game 5 on Wednesday, and Games 6 and 7 on Friday and Sunday, if needed.
NBA: San Antonio Spurs v Minnesota Timberwolves
Tuesday 12th May 12:00AM GMT (13th)/7:00PM Local
Frost Bank Arena, San Antonio
The San Antonio Spurs host the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 5 of their NBA Conference Semifinals series at Frost Bank Arena in San Antonio. The series is tied at 2-2 after Victor Wembanyama’s first career ejection proved too costly for the Spurs in Game 4. While San Antonio were able to keep pace with the Timberwolves following Wembanyama’s second-period removal, they squandered an eight-point lead in the final quarter to eventually lose 114-109. Meanwhile, the Timberwolves find new life after blowout losses in Games 2 and 3. A 3-1 deficit heading back to San Antonio would have likely been the death knell for Minnesota, but a game-high 36 points from Anthony Edwards reset the board and makes the series all to play for. The Spurs have not reached the Conference Finals since 2017, while the Timberwolves are aiming for their third consecutive trip. Game 6 is scheduled for Friday, with Game 7 taking place on Sunday if needed.
ATP & WTA Tour: Internazionali BNL d'Italia Day 9
Wednesday 13th May 11:00AM GMT/1:00PM Local
Foro Italico, Rome
The Italian Open continues at the Foro Italico in Rome. Jannik Sinner appears to be well on his way to a record-breaking sixth consecutive Masters 1000 win. With Carlos Alcaraz missing the tournament and Novak Djokovic suffering a shock second-round exit, only Alexander Zverev, Daniil Medvedev, Lorenzo Musetti, and Flavio Cobolli remain as top-ten threats to Sinner’s historic run. The world number one’s week begins on Monday against Alexei Popyrin in the third round. In the women’s draw, another 1000-level tournament has been seized by early-round chaos. Aryna Sabalenka and defending champion Jasmine Paolini were both eliminated in the third round, leaving Elena Rybakina and 2025 runner-up Coco Gauff as the highest-remaining seeds. Both women are set to start their week in the Round of 16, with Rybakina facing Karolína Plíšková, and Gauff taking on her 16th-seeded compatriot, Iva Jovic. The tournament continues until the weekend, with the women’s Final on Saturday and the men’s Final on Sunday.

Major Championships (Golf): PGA Championship Day 1
Thursday 14th May 11:35AM GMT/7:35AM Local
Aronimink Golf Club, Newtown Square
The PGA Championship begins at Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square. The second Major of the season brings plenty of intrigue to the suburbs of Philadelphia. Can Rory McIlroy ride the momentum from his Masters win last month to capture his first PGA Championship title since 2014? Can Scottie Scheffler defend his title, making him the first back-to-back champion at the tournament since 2019? Or is it finally the year for Bryson DeChambeau, who has finished as the runner-up at the last two editions of the tournament? Aronimink is set to host the PGA Championship for the first time since 1962. It’s widely considered one of the toughest courses to play on the PGA Tour, highlighted by the cavernous bunker on the 7th hole, the downhill run on the 8th hole, and the narrow approach golfers must navigate on the 10th hole.
Giro d’Italia: Giro d'Italia Day 7
Friday 15th May 8:50AM GMT/10:50AM Local
Formia to Blockhaus
The 2026 Giro d’Italia continues with a 244km mountain stage between Formia and Blockhaus. Stage 7 is this year’s longest stage, and the first brutal climb of the race. The crown jewel of this marathon stage is the 13.6km ascent of the Blockhaus, where riders will gain 1141m of elevation on an average gradient of 8.4%, though the gradient rises to a maximum of 14% about two-thirds of the way through the climb. Uruguayan rider Guillermo Thomas Silva will begin Tuesday’s Stage 4 wearing the Maglia Rosa. While Paul Magnier won Stages 1 and 3, it was Silva’s Stage 2 ride that saw him take the general classification lead. However, the XDS Astana Team rider’s lead is just four seconds over Florian Stork and Egan Bernal, with Thymen Arensman and Giulio Ciccone six seconds back. Despite this, all eyes are on pre-race favourite Jonas Vingegaard, who is currently ranked 19th in the general classification standings but time-wise, is a part of a group ten seconds off the lead that encompasses everyone from Jan Christen in 6th to Joshua Kench in 34th. With Vingegaard’s specialisation as a climber, expect the gruelling ascent of the Blockhaus to be perhaps the point at which he takes a hold of the general classification lead. The race continues through the rest of the week, heading into a rest day next Monday, after the conclusion of Sunday’s Stage 9.
FA Cup: Chelsea v Manchester City
Saturday 16th May 2:00PM GMT/3:00PM Local
Wembley Stadium, London
Chelsea face Manchester City in the Final of the FA Cup at Wembley Stadium in London. Despite a turbulent season for Chelsea, the Blues are 90 minutes away from their first FA Cup title since 2018. After the failed tenure of Liam Rosenior, the club appears to be improving slightly under interim manager Calum McFarlane. However, goalscoring remains an issue for the London side, with just three goals in their last six games. Now they have to go up against a Manchester City side on the trail of a domestic treble. City will have their attention split this week, as they also play Crystal Palace in a potentially title race-defining midweek clash to fulfill the game in hand they have held over Arsenal since late March. However, City are about as formidable as they could be heading into this clash. They haven’t lost a domestic match since the Manchester Derby in late January. On paper, City look destined to claim their eighth FA Cup title. However, the cup Final is infamous for producing unexpected results - such as Wigan Athletic beating City in 2013. Furthermore, City have lost the last two FA Cup Finals, meaning that Pep Guardiola’s squad will be extremely averse to considering their hands being on the trophy anytime before the final whistle.
Indian Premier League: Punjab Kings v Royal Challengers Bengaluru
Sunday 17th May 10:00AM GMT/3:30PM Local
Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamshala
The Punjab Kings host the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in a crucial Indian Premier League match at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala. A chaotic IPL season continues. The Kings have gone from leading the league a week ago to entering this week in fourth, albeit with a game in hand over eight of the other nine teams. Three consecutive losses for the Kings have seen them tumble down the standings, though their stellar start to the season sees them hold onto a playoff spot for the time being. Furthermore, beating the Delhi Capitals on Monday will return the Kings to the top of the standings, with the added benefit of also playing the ailing Mumbai Indians during this frenetic penultimate week of the season. Meanwhile, the defending champion Royal Challengers ended their own two-game losing skid with a thrilling win over the Indians at the weekend. Even with most teams in the league having three matches left to play, the race for a postseason place still prominently features six teams. Bengaluru’s early-season record and exemplary NRR should see them through without much issue, but a win over a fellow challenger would be the perfect way to ensure it.
