Event of the Day: Tour de France Stage 20

Our event of the day...

is the final time trial of the Tour de France with a 22.5km stage in Marseille, starting and ending at the Stade Vélodrome. The course is a beautiful ride around the city taking in the impressive settings of the Corniche du Président-John-Fitzgerald-Kennedy, the Old Port of Marseille and the Notre-Dame de la Garde at the top of a 1.2km climb. Overall the race is an exciting mixture of curves and fast flat straights as well as some technical route changes at certain points. Team Sky's British rider Chris Froome currently leads the General Classification by 23 seconds from Frenchman Romain Bardet of AG2R La Mondiale, the Columbian Rigoberto Urán of Cannondale–Drapac lies in third, 29 seconds behind. It is all set-up for a thrilling day of action with significant movements possible in the General Classification before the riders finish the Tour on the Avenue des Champs-Élysées in Paris on Sunday.

It is the third day of the Open Championship at Royal Birkdale with Jordan Spieth two shots clear on 6 under. In the T20 Blast, Nottinghamshire host Northamptonshire at Trent Bridge.
