Event of the Day: Pittsburgh Penguins v St. Louis Blues

Our event of the day...

is one of the games from the opening night of fixtures in the 2017 National Hockey League as the Pittsburgh Penguins host the St. Louis Blues at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh. The Penguins will be looking for a strong start to the season in their bid to become the first team to win the Stanley Cup three times in a row since the New York Islanders’ four years of dominance from 1980-1983. All eyes will be on the champions in what promises to be an entertaining beginning to the season.

The Blues finished last season in fine form, winning fifteen of their last nineteen fixtures to finish third in the Central Division of the Western Conference. They reached the second round of the playoffs where they lost over six games to the Nashville Predators, the Predators would go on to lose to the Penguins in the Stanley Cup Finals. Today will be a challenging beginning to the season for both teams and should be a competitive and entertaining match at the home of the defending champions.
