Event of the Day: US Open Quarterfinals
Our event of the day...
is the Quarterfinals of the US Open with some of the tournament’s star players in action. Number 1 seed Rafael Nadal is up against Russian Andrey Rublev who beat number 9 seed David Goffin in the last round. Nadal looked to be in fine form as he dispatched Ukraine’s Alexandr Dolgopolov in three sets in his last match. Meanwhile, number 3 seed Roger Federer is up against Juan Martín del Potro of Argentina. Del Potro, seeded at number 24, beat number 6 seed Dominic Thiem of Austria in a thrilling five-set match in the last round after losing the first two sets 6-1 and 6-2.
As the competition gets towards the latter stages we’re beginning to see some of the game’s biggest names drawn against each other in some intriguing matches. In the women’s singles, Czech number 1 seed Karolína Plíšková faces American CoCo Vandeweghe who will be looking to call upon home support after her win against Lucie Šafářová in the previous round. Meanwhile American Madison Keys plays Estonian Kaia Kanepi who have both recorded impressive wins in this year's tournament against Elina Svitolina (seeded at number 4) and Naomi Osaka (conqueror of number 6 seed Angelique Kerber) respectively. It is all set up for a thrilling day of tennis from New York.

In MLB, there are 15 games today with the standout fixture being the clash between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the LA Dodgers at Dodgers Stadium in Los Angeles.
