Event of the Day: South Africa v New Zealand

***The game was abandoned due to weather conditions and the teams received one point each.***

Our event of the day is the ICC Women's World Cup clash at the County Ground in Derby between South Africa and New Zealand. Both teams go into the game in good form after they both won their opening matches. South Africa produced a relatively narrow victory over Pakistan, winning by three wickets with 6 balls to spare. It was a very comfortable affair for New Zealand in their first game of the tournament as they thrashed Sri Lanka by nine wickets with over 12 overs to spare. New Zealand are the only nation who have won the Women's World Cup other than England and Australia. South Africa have never reached a World Cup final but will be hoping to change that statistic and be at Lord's on 23rd July. There will be a few twists and turns in the coming weeks but this is a fixture that stands out, as two strong nations collide.

Honourable mentions around the globe go to the first FIFA Confederations semi-final from Kazan Arena as European Champions Portugal take on Copa America Champions Chile in a mouth-watering encounter. Henley Royal Regatta starts today and runs until Sunday - with crews from around the globe attending the best known regatta in the world. It will be an exciting 5 days.  It is day 3 of the first set of Day-Night County Championships Division 1 games with league leaders Essex up against Middlesex, Warwickshire taking on Lancashire, Yorkshire battling Surrey and Hampshire versus Somerset. We edge closer and closer to the start of Wimbledon as the Aegon International Eastbourne goes in to day 3 and Wimbledon Qualifying continues.

Whatever you are watching today, enjoy!
