Event of the Day: Manchester United v CSKA Moscow

Our event of the day 
is the UEFA Champions League game between Manchester United and CSKA Moscow at the Old Trafford in Manchester. Today’s and Wednesday’s fixtures of the Champions League Matchday 6, the last round of the group stage, will decide all participants of the knock-out phase as well as the teams that will move to the Europa League. In the first of the eight groups, Group A, these matters are still unresolved. Favourites Manchester United are in top position with 12 points and a draw tonight would mean they qualify for the last 16 in first position, CSKA and FC Basel are also in the running to make the next round. 
 
United convincingly won the first match against CSKA, winning 4-1 in Moscow with goals from Anthony Martial, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and two from Romelu Lukaku. In a total of five games against CSKA, the Red Devils have been victorious on three occasions and have drawn twice. United last lost a Champions League group game at Old Trafford against CFR Cluj in December 2012. CSKA however, place their hopes in their great away form, as they have won all four away games in the Champions League this season, including qualifiers. Both teams come into the match with confidence with United beating Arsenal 3-1 on Saturday, and CSKA dominating Tosno 6-0. It is all setup for a great evening of football at Old Trafford.

around the globe go to the fourth day of the second Test of the 2017-18 Ashes series between Australia and England at the Adelaide Oval. After day 3 of historic day/night Ashes match, Australia lead by 268 runs with 6 wickets remaining. Seven more games are to be played in the UEFA Champions League with Benfica against Basel at the Estádio da Luz in Lisbon in group A. In group B, Celtic host Anderlecht at Celtic Park in Glasgow; while Bayern Munich take on Paris-Saint-Germain at the Allianz Arena in Munich, in a battle for top spot. Group C brings duels between Roma and Qarabağ at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome; and between Chelsea and Atlético Madrid at London’s Stamford Bridge. Finally, in group D, Olympiacos face Juventus at the Karaiskakis Stadium in Piraeus; and Barcelona meet Sporting CP at the Camp Nou in Barcelona. In the NBA, there are three games including the the Portland Trail Blazers hosting the Washington Wizards at the Moda Center. Our pick of the 10 NHL games, is the Pittsburgh Penguins versus the New York Rangers at the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh.
