Event of the Day: Tottenham Hotspur versus Rochdale

Our event of the day is the FA Cup 5th round replay between Tottenham Hotspur and Rochdale at Wembley Stadium in London. Both teams recently met at the Spotland Stadium, ending in an exciting 2-2 draw, with Rochdale’s Steve Davies scoring a dramatic injury-time equaliser. The visit to Wembley will be a challenging trip for Rochdale, facing Tottenham at their home ground, without striker Calvin Andrew as well as defenders Keith Keane and Niall Canavan, due to injuries. It is Rochdale’s first visit to Wembley in 10 years, when they lost 3-2 to Spockport in the 2008 Football League Two play-off Final.

Rochdale will rely on Ian Henderson, who has scored six times in the FA Cup this season, including the opening goal against Spurs in the original tie. Spurs are unbeaten in their last 15 games in all competitions and will be a tough challenge for Rochdale. Harry Kane has scored eight goals in his last six FA cup matches whilst Dele Alli could become the first Spur’s player in the club’s history who has scored in the top flight, FA Cup, League Cup and European Cup/Champions League within the same season. Hopefully we are in for an exciting game at Wembley this evening.

Honourable mentions around the globe go to day one of the UCI Track Cycling World Championships at the Omnisport Apeldoorn in the Netherlands.
