Event of the Day: Sevilla v Liverpool

Our event of the day
is the UEFA Champions League match between Sevilla and Liverpool at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán in Seville. Europe’s elite competition returns this Tuesday and Wednesday for the fixtures of Matchday 5 of the group stage. The duel in Seville sees two leading teams up against each other – Liverpool currently lead the group with eight points whilst Sevilla have picked up seven points so far. Both teams have the opportunity to book their place in the knock-out phase with a victory tonight.
The first game in Liverpool, on Matchday 1, ended with a 2-2 draw, although the home side were frustrated when they failed to score from the penalty spot, while leading 2-1. The Reds have an even worse experience with the Spanish club as they squandered a 1-0 lead in the 2016 Europa League final in Basel, where they ended up losing the game 3-1. Sevilla beat Celta Vigo  2-1 in their last La Liga game while Liverpool secured a comfortable 3-0 triumph over Southampton on Saturday. Two goals came from Mohamed Salah, who was on target in September’s clash with Sevilla too, and is the club’s top scorer with 14 goals in all competitions. With two strong teams on the pitch, both aiming for three points, an exciting game in Seville is expected.

Honourable mentions
around the globe go to the NHL match between the St. Louis Blues and the Edmonton Oilers at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, one of three games scheduled for today. St. Louis lead the Western Conference with 31 points from their 21 games played, while Edmonton are second from bottom with 16 points and are desperate for points. There are 9 games in the EFL Championship, with Nottingham Forest hosting Norwich City at the City Ground, the pick of the games. After one win each, Australia Women and England Women play the third and final Twenty20 match of the CommBank Women’s Ashes 2017 at the Manuka Oval in Canberra. The only NBA game of the night is between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Chicago Bulls at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Whatever you’re watching, enjoy!
