Event of the Day: Oklahoma City Thunder v Golden State Warriors

Our event of the day
is the NBA game between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Golden State Warriors at the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City. This is a big clash as the Warriors are at the top of the Western Conference with the Houston Rockets and a win for them could see them go top on their own, if the Rockets slip up. The Thunder have struggled and with a 7-9 record so far this season they will need to improve if they are to fight for a place in the playoffs when April comes around. The Warriors are on a win streak of just two games but they have only lost just one of their last ten games, which was against the Boston Celtics last week. Their most recent win was against the Brooklyn Nets in Brooklyn where they won 118-111 on Sunday. Their opponents have lost both of their last two games with their latest defeat against the Pelicans in New Orleans, who beat them 114-107 on Monday.
The Thunder versus the Warriors has become a must watch game after the departure of Kevin Durant from Oklahoma to Golden State in the summer of 2016. This is his second return to the Chesapeake Energy Arena and he will be sure to receive a noisy welcome if he plays - unfortunately he is questionable with a strained left ankle. The Warriors will be favourites even if without Durant particularly due to the continued strong form of Stephen Curry. The two-time NBA MVP leads his team with 25.6 points per game from point-guard while Draymond Green leads for assists with 6.6 per game. For the hosts, it’s Paul George who leads the way with 21.9 points per game while last year’s MVP, Russell Westbrook, leads assists with 9.7 per game. With the quality of both teams, it should be great game if the Thunder play to their true potential.

Honourable mentions
around the globe go to the teams competing in the UEFA Champions League. The biggest match sees Barcelona travel to Italy to confirm their place in the knockout stages as group leaders against Juventus. Fellow Spanish side, Atlético Madrid host Roma in Group C as they look to pick up their first European win of the campaign. English sides, Manchester United and Chelsea are both in action as they make trips to FC Basel and FK Qarabag respectively. There are also three EFL Championship fixtures with Wolves’ clash with Leeds United being the pick of the bunch. In the NHL, the game between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Vancouver Canucks at the PPG Paints Arena is the pick of the 15 games from the league on show.

Whatever you’re watching, enjoy!
