Event of the Day: Washington Capitals versus Vegas Golden Knights

Our event of the day is Game 4 of the NHL Stanley Cup Finals between the Vegas Golden Knights and the Washington Capitals. The game will be taking place at Capital One Arena in Washington as the Capitals look to take a commanding 3-1 series lead. The Golden Knights were outmatched in Game 3, losing 3-1 to an energetic and motivated Capitals team that set the tone early in the First Period and never looked back. Fueled by the return of Evgeny Kuznetsov, who left Game 2 with a shoulder injury, the Capitals had 26 shots on goal and 26 blocked shots. Kuznetsov had two points, assisting on one goal while scoring one of his own which turned out to be the game winner. Alexander Ovechkin once again put together a gutsy performance - he scored his 14th goal of the Playoffs in the Second Period to put the Capitals up 1-0.

In addition to his opening goal, Ovechkin had five shots on net, two hits and two blocked shots. His passion, will and leadership has been on full display through the playoffs in his quest to win his first Stanley Cup in his 13th season. The Las Vegas Golden Knights will try to pick up the pieces and tie the series in Game 4. The first year expansion team have defied the odds all season long by putting together a memorable first season and reaching the Stanley Cup Finals. They haven’t come this far to concede defeat to Alexander Ovechkin and his supporting cast of veterans. The Golden Knights have the chance to shift the momentum back in their favour by tying the series 2-2 and heading back to Las Vegas for Game 5. Some keys to victory for the Golden Knights will be to play with more energy and gain more possession of play by improving their face-offs win percentage. They also need to create more chances and get more pucks to the net. It won’t be easy. The Capitals have made it tough by putting their bodies on the line and blocking shots from the blue line. Game 4 should be another tight battle between these two teams as they both vie to become first time Stanley Cup Champions.
