Event of the Day: Manchester City v Tottenham Hotspur

Our event of the day is the Premier League game between Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester. Manchester City have dominated the league campaign so far and have 49 out of a possible 51 points, 11 more than second-placed Manchester United. That’s a record on its own as the best ever start in the English top-flight, but City set another record with their 4-0 away victory over Swansea on Wednesday – they are the first Premier League side with 15 consecutive wins. Tottenham are currently fourth with 31 points after 17 games in the Premiership. They were having a bad spell of four matches without a win, but have bounced back with two home triumphs against Stoke City (5-1) and Brighton (2-0), following a 3-0 Champions League win over Apoel Nicosia. Both teams will continue their Champions League campaigns in February, when Manchester City take on Basel and Tottenham face Juventus, in the round of 16.
Ahead of their clash tonight, both sides have players missing at the back – City will be without defenders Captain Vincent Kompany, John Stones and Benjamin Mendy, while at Spurs Toby Alderweireld misses out due to injury and Davinson Sanchez is suspended. In attack, Sergio Aguero is one shy of 100 goals for Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium in all competitions - he has 99 goals in 133 home games. For Spurs, Harry Kane has scored seven goals in seven away Premier League games this season. It is set to be a highly entertaining game at the Etihad Stadium this afternoon.
