Event of the Day: Boston Celtics v San Antonio Spurs

Our event of the day is the NBA game between the Boston Celtics and the San Antonio Spurs at TD Garden. The Celtics are on an impressive run having won their last four games and currently sitting second in the Eastern Conference with a 4-2 record, behind the Orlando Magic. The Spurs are currently in fifth spot in the Western Conference, also with a 4-2 record, after a narrow 97-94 defeat to the Indiana Pacers on Sunday. Today should be an entertaining game of basketball between two teams that are winning more often than not this season.

One of the main factors behind the Celtics’ success in recent weeks is their defence. With players like Al Horford running things defensively the Celtics have a strong platform to build on, as was the case in their 96-90 win against the Miami Heat at the American Airlines Arena last time out. This defence will face a tough test against the Spurs with Rudy Gay looking impressive as he continues his return from an Achilles injury. Gay is currently averaging twelve points a game and the Celtics will need to keep him quiet to stand a better chance of winning this evening. It promises to be a closely-contested game.

Honourable mentions around the globe go to the first day of the ATP Rolex Paris Masters at the AccorHotels Arena. The likes of Richard Gasquet, Gilles Simon and Denis Shapovalov are all in action. The Kansas City Chiefs host the Denver Broncos at the Arrowhead Stadium in the NFL and the Premier League sees Newcastle United travel to Turf Moor to take on Burnley. There are eight games in the NHL including the San Jose Sharks against the Toronto Maple Leafs at the SAP Center. Palmeiras take on Cruzerio at Allianz Parque in the Brazilian Série A while it’s Defensa y Justicia versus Olimpo at the Estadio Norberto “Tito” Tomaghello in the Argentinian Superliga.

Whatever you’re watching, enjoy!
