Event of the day

Our event of the day is the Premier League of Darts Final at the O2 Arena in London. After a long, competitive 15-week season only four players remain - the favourite and regular season champion with 23 points Michael van Gerwen, the second place finisher with 20 points Michael Smith, 3rd place Gary Anderson with 19 points, and finally fourth spot finisher Rob Cross also with 19 points. The first round, best of 19 legs, matchups will see van Gerwen face off against Cross, and Smith play Anderson. The previous matchups between these four accomplished dart players ended with the defending champion, Michael van Gerwen defeating Rob Cross 7-2 (in week 13) and Gary Anderson beating Michael Smith also 7-2 (in week 11).

This second matchup could be one to remember as Anderson has been a teacher to Smith and views him as his top protégé. Both players have immense respect for one another but that won’t stop these fierce competitors from giving it their all in their semi-final matchup. The winners of both of the aforementioned matchups will play in The Final, later in the evening, in a best of 21 legs match. Darts is always a thrilling event to watch, even if you’re a first time viewer, so don’t miss this unique viewing experience.

Honourable mentions around the globe go to stage 12 of the Giro d’Italia Cycling race which runs from Osimo to Imola. Currently British rider, Simon Yates, is leading through the first 11 stages with a total time of 47 hours 8 minutes and 21 seconds and with a lead of 47 seconds over 2nd placed Tom Dumoulin from the Netherlands. Other events on the calendar for today include a matchup between two of the hotter teams in the MLB, the Atlanta Braves and Chicago Cubs, at Sun Trust Park, and the Royal London One Day Cup Cricket competition begins, with Lancashire playing Nottinghamshire, the pick of the games. The NHL Playoffs Eastern Conference Final Game 4 matchup between the Washington Capitals and Tampa Bay Lightning takes place at the Capital One Arena. Three different golf events also start today with the European Tour Belgian Knockout, the USLPGA Kingsmill Championship, and the USPGA AT&T Byron Nelson all taking place. There is IPL action between the Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Sunrisers Hydrabad at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. In the NRL, the Panthers play the Tigers at Panthers Stadium in Penrith and the Men’s and Women’s Internazionali BNL d’Italia tennis continues at Foro Italico.

Whatever you’re watching, enjoy!
