Event of the Day: Premier League of Darts Final

Our event of the day is the Premier League of Darts Final at the O2 Arena in London. After a long, competitive 15-week season only four players remain - the favourite and regular season champion with 23 points Michael van Gerwen, the second place finisher with 20 points Michael Smith, 3rd place Gary Anderson with 19 points, and finally fourth spot finisher Rob Cross also with 19 points. The first round, best of 19 legs, matchups will see van Gerwen face off against Cross, and Smith play Anderson. The previous matchups between these four accomplished dart players ended with the defending champion, Michael van Gerwen defeating Rob Cross 7-2 (in week 13) and Gary Anderson beating Michael Smith also 7-2 (in week 11).

This second matchup could be one to remember as Anderson has been a teacher to Smith and views him as his top protégé. Both players have immense respect for one another but that won’t stop these fierce competitors from giving it their all in their semi-final matchup. The winners of both of the aforementioned matchups will play in The Final, later in the evening, in a best of 21 legs match. Darts is always a thrilling event to watch, even if you’re a first time viewer, so don’t miss this unique viewing experience.

Honourable mentions around the globe go to stage 12 of the Giro d’Italia Cycling race which runs from Osimo to Imola. The NHL Playoffs Eastern Conference Final Game 4 matchup between the Washington Capitals and Tampa Bay Lightning takes place at the Capital One Arena.
