Event of the day

Our event of the day

is game 6 of the MLB League Championship Series between the Houston Astros and the New York Yankees at Minute Maid Park in Houston. The Astros led the series 2-0 after the first two home games, however after three wins in a row at Yankee Stadium, the New York team have fought back to lead 3-2. With the final two games taking place at Minute Maid Park it looks like this series could go all the way to the final seventh game. Tonight’s match promises to be an entertaining instalment of this finely-poised match-up.

The Yankees will be high on confidence coming into tonight’s game following a resounding 5-0 win last time out. They are only one win away from booking a spot in the World Series and with the power they possess throughout their line-up (including the eye-catching Aaron Judge) few would bet against them getting there. However the series is far from decided, and the Astros will hope to emulate their home form from the first two games to stay in contention. Tonight is going to be a season-defining game for both teams.

Honourable mentions

around the globe go to the European Rugby Champions Cup match between Scarlets and Bath at Parc y Scarlets. Bath began their European campaign with a comfortable win against Benetton Treviso last weekend while Scarlets will be looking to bounce back from a narrow 21-20 defeat at Toulon.

In basketball the Golden State Warriors travel to the Smoothie King Center to take on the New Orleans Pelicans in one of ten NBA matches. West Ham United face Brighton & Hove Albion at the London Stadium in the Premier League while it’s the second day of the PGA Tour CJ Cup at Nine Bridges, South Korea. There is more rugby union as the European Challenge Cup continues with three fixtures including Lyon Olympique Universitaire versus Sale Sharks at Matmut Stadium de Gerland. The UEC European Track Championships continue in Berlin, while the New Jersey Devils host the San Jose Sharks at the Prudential Center in one of six NHL games.

Whatever you’re watching, enjoy!
