Event of the Day: Stoke City versus Manchester City
Our event of the day is the Premier League game between Stoke City and Manchester City at the bet365 Stadium in Stoke-on-Trent. Stoke are fighting against relegation, having dropped to 19th position in the table with 27 points from 29 games. They will be hoping for a miracle by gaining the points against the dominating side of the league, Manchester City, who are on the way to becoming champions as they have 78 points on top and a massive 13-point lead over city rivals, Manchester United, in second. Stoke City are winless in the last five matches, and have drawn for the third time in row last Saturday at Southampton (0-0).
The Sky Blues lost at home 2-1 to Basel on Wednesday in the Champions League, but qualified for the quarter-finals 5-2 on aggregate. Man City were rampant in the sides’ first meeting of the campaign in October – they trashed the Potters 7-2 at the Etihad. Stoke last beat the Citizens in December 2015, in a 2-0 win. Midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri is the most prolific player for the hosts this season – he has six assists to his name and seven goals, three in his last four appearances. Bernardo Silva has scored in back-to-back Premier League games and will be looking for three in a row. It should be an exciting Monday night of Premier League football.

It’s Day 5 of the ATP World Tour and Day 6 of the WTA World Tour BNP Paribas Open at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in Indian Wells. It’s the fourth day of the 2nd Test between South Africa and Australia at St. George’s Park in Port Elizabeth. Sri Lanka face India at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo in the Nidahas T20 Tri-Series. In the NBA, the Portland Trail Blazers go head-to-head with the Miami Heat at the Moda Center in Portland; and the Houston Rockets face the San Antonio Spurs at the Toyota Center in Houston.
