The Melbourne Cricket Ground, more commonly referred to as the MCG, is a famous Australian sports venue. It is the largest stadium in the southern hemisphere, and has hosted, or been a central venue, of many major events, including the 1956 Summer Olympics, the 2006 Commonwealth Games, the 1992 and 2015 Cricket World Cups, and many international cricket matches. Several teams call the MCG home, including AFL sides Melbourne, Richmond, and Essendon, and cricket sides the Melbourne Stars and Victoria cricket team.
