It was first established in 2020 as a replacement for the traditional end-of-year tours due to scheduling conflicts caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The competition features eight teams, including the Six Nations Championship winners, along with <a href="/country-georgia">Georgia</a>, <a href="/country-fiji">Fiji</a>, and <a href="/country-japan">Japan</a>. The teams are divided into two groups and compete in a round-robin format, with the top teams from each group advancing to the finals.
