It is held every four years and has grown to become the world's largest sporting event for people with disabilities. The first Paralympic Games were held in Rome in 1960 and are now an important part of the Olympic movement. The event features a wide range of sports, including wheelchair basketball, swimming, and athletics. The Paralympic Games have featured many famous athletes, including Tanni Grey-Thompson, who won 11 gold medals in wheelchair racing, and swimmer Daniel Dias, who has won 14 gold medals.
