Darts is played between two or more players, with players aiming to throw their set of darts to the most valued sections of the dartboard. It is popular in many countries, including the UK, the <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/sport-football/team-netherlands-1">Netherlands</a>, <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/sport-football/team-belgium-1">Belgium</a>, and <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/sport-cricket/team-australia-1">Australia</a>. The pinnacle of the sport is the PDC World Darts Championship, played annually over the Christmas period. The most recent champion is Englishman Michael Smith. Other notable events include the World Matchplay, the <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/sport-football/competition-premier-league">Premier League</a>, and the Grand Slam of Darts. The most successful players of all-time include Phil Taylor, Eric Bristow, and Michael van Gerwen.
