Founded in 2020, it is the newest addition to the country's domestic cricket structure. The league consists of five teams representing various cities in Sri Lanka and features some of the top local and international players. The inaugural season of LPL was held in November-December 2020, with the <a href="/sport-cricket/team-jaffna">Jaffna</a> Stallions emerging as the champions. The league follows a round-robin format, with each team playing each other twice in the group stage before moving on to the playoffs. LPL is organized by Sri Lanka Cricket and has gained popularity amongst cricket fans due to its competitive and fast-paced cricket action.
