<a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/sport-boxing/team-deontay-wilder">Deontay Wilder</a> is an American professional heavyweight boxer known for his powerful punching and long championship run. Born in <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/city-tuscaloosa">Tuscaloosa</a>, <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/sport-american-football/team-alabama-1">Alabama</a>, he began boxing as an adult and won a bronze medal for the <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/sport-baseball/team-united-states">United States</a> at the 2008 <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/city-beijing">Beijing</a> Olympics. Wilder turned professional later that year and captured the WBC heavyweight title in 2015 by defeating <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/sport-boxing/team-bermane-stiverne">Bermane Stiverne</a>. He held the championship until 2020 and made ten successful title defenses, facing contenders including <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/sport-boxing/team-luis-ortiz">Luis Ortiz</a> and <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/sport-boxing/team-tyson-fury">Tyson Fury</a>. His three-fight rivalry with Fury became one of the defining heavyweight competitions of his career: Wilder and Fury drew their first bout in 2018, before Fury won the next two meetings. Wilder’s record also includes a victory over Stiverne in their 2017 rematch and a knockout win against Ortiz in 2019. Rather than representing a boxing team in the usual sense, Wilder has competed individually with a professional training and support team. His bouts have taken place at major venues, including <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/stadium-mgm-grand-garden-arena">MGM Grand Garden Arena</a> in <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/city-las-vegas">Las Vegas</a> and <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/stadium-barclays-center">Barclays Center</a> in <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/city-brooklyn">Brooklyn</a>. His Olympic medal and WBC reign are central achievements in his profile as a leading modern heavyweight boxer.
