Andrew Cancio is an American professional boxer from Blythe, California, known for his determined performances in the super featherweight division. Born on October 21, 1988, Cancio built his career through professional competitions before earning a major title opportunity against WBA champion Alberto Machado. In February 2019, he scored a notable upset by stopping Machado in the fourth round to win the WBA super featherweight world title. Cancio defended the belt in a rematch with Machado later that year, again winning by knockout, before losing it to René Alvarado in November 2019. His title run made him a prominent name in boxing news and a compelling subject for fans researching WBA champions, championship bouts, and Mexican-American fighters. Cancio competed as an individual boxer rather than as a member of a traditional team, so he has no dedicated team stadium; his fights took place at event venues selected by the promoters. For current records, fight results, awards, and career updates, consult reputable boxing databases and official event reports, as professional records and rankings can change over time.
